Our series, “You Got Me All Wrong” continues as we investigate Intelligent Design, both from a Christian theistic point-of-view as well as a Secular point-of-view. As always, the best resource for the Believer is Scripture and then consider the thoughts of trusted outside sources who may help us better understand specifics.

By way of conversation, the following may provide a building block for entering the conversation with others. If we can consider an approach based upon the lenses of theology, philosophy, and science we may go further than working from emotions or a level of frustration.

As always, I have included outside resources as aids to a meaningful conversation. These resources are in no way comprehensive about Intelligent Design, though they do offer sound information.

A conversation on creation / design must involve all three components …

Theology = Who?

Philosophy = Why?

Science = How?

My guess is that you, the reader, will discover multiple approaches from other Christians as to details concerning Intelligent Design and my best advice is like that of Dr. Damon S. Perez, Associate Professor of Biology for the School of Nursing and Health Professions at Colorado Christian University:

“The Bible makes it clear that a person who holds to any of the positions presented … can attain salvation as long as they repent and believe in the person and redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ, the divine Son of God, who shed His blood on the cross for our salvation and the forgiveness of our sins. Ultimately, the idea of salvation is tied to an individual's faith in Jesus as Christ, not their stance on evolution and the age of the Earth,” Christian Views on Creation and Evolution.

Overall, I hope that our time together brings us closer to the appreciation of God’s magnificent creation and intelligent design of all that is seen and unseen. From the Psalmist, “The heavens tell of the glory of God; And their expanse declares the work of His hands. 2 Day to day pours forth speech, And night to night reveals knowledge”. Psalm 19, NASB.
